I’ve got nearly 2 million records in my exp_security_hashes

I’m getting the dreaded Description: Table ‘./gemwales/exp_security_hashes’ is marked as crashed and should be repaired error alot.

Can I just delete from exp_security_hases?

    Will that do any harm?

    Any advice, greatly appreciated.

You should be fine- I double checked and exp_security_hashes is ignored in ‘non-critical’ exports.  Worst case scenario, someone who is filling out a form at the exact moment you truncate it will get denied if you’re using secure sessions.  (And don’t drop the table- delete or truncate.)

Also- make sure you’re running the latest build and version- that table should be routinely cleared out.  Of course- if you’re getting hammered, it could fill up fast.

    Thanks Robin, I’ll delete.

we were getting hammered, as some numptie(me) left apache as an open proxy.

    that was fun

it’s not an open proxy now so it’s slowly getting better.

as for versions, we’re way back, trying to get the client to cough up for the newest one as we speak

    thanks again

Ouch 😉.  An upgrade might help- but yea, if you’re getting hammered with bots, that table could fill up regardless.  As a stop gap, could set up a quick cron to clear the table every hour or so until things calm down- if it continues to be a problem.

But you’re good clearing the table out.

ETA- though backup, backup, backup before you start mucking with the db directly!
