I have this website that I need to develop for a client and is going to be very similar to http://www.franchisedirect.com/ but my first choice of backend was to use wordpress, create categories then enter all my franchises into the system and select the categories that pertain to that particular franchise.  I also choose WP because of its great SEO.  I have never used EE and am a bit afraid of jumping into a new CMS for this type of job but have heard a lot of great things about EE and want to make sure I am picking the best solution for my job.

Any help or advice would be great.

Hi, Nick - welcome to the forums.

I’m going to move this up to pre-sales for you.

I had a quick look-see around the site you mentioned, and ExpressionEngine could handle this in a variety of ways.  You could use multiple category groups, tags, and relationships to create all of the various ways of finding a Franchise.  With ExpressionEngine, you won’t be restricted to just one set of categories, or even categories at all.

I would recommend giving EE a try and see what you think!

I want to give it a try but besides the 5 video tutorials that are on the site, there is nothing that shows me real world use of the system.  Im a bit lost on what is what.  Are there any websites with move video tutorials or anything like that to help me?

Sure, check out Boyink’s tutorial, and for examples, check out our Showcase.  I’d also have a look at our own blog =)
