OK, here’s the just of it.

I had a my ee site up and running with out problems, then my site crashed. OK, no biggie Fixed and wanted to start with clean ee install anyways. I uploaded newest version to my site. So now when you click on my profile and you click the register link it loops back to my site. The Link points to a URL that shows this “index.php/member/register/” and not “index.php?/member/register/” . Notice the question mark is missing and I assume this is the reason for the loop. All of the links under member profiles (breadcrumbs) are missing the question mark and my search form does the same thing, in fact most links on my page are off. If I type the question mark into my browser with the URL it goes to the right page. Is there something I am not adding correctly to the General Configuration in CP? Obviously I am missing something and it’s probably right under my nose! My site is http://velvet-peacock.com. You can try a search and click my profile> member registration.

I have tried everything!!!! This is so frustrating. I dont understand what I am doing wrong? Unless I go in and hardcode each link in my site including all the member templates none of the links work right. I need desperate help. I have already lost big time when my site crashed. Please anyone with any suggestions.

Ok I got it solved. The culprit, Query Strings. Just so anyone else who struggles with this will know. It is not just a window based server issue. I am on unix server and I still needed to Force URL query strings. To find this look in admin CP >System Preferences> Output and Debugging Preferences. The docs on this is http://expressionengine.com/docs/general/urls.html.

Who knew that a question mark packed such a punch!

Good god, I thought it was just me.

Couldn’t login, couldn’t register new members, couldn’t see member list.
