I have managed to establish working “More” pages and “Category” pages on my site.

If you view the source you can get most of the code:

    http://americandaily.ws/index.php/categories/C1

I’m still mystified why EE abandoned the “More” template and why the “Archives” and “Categories” templates supplied are essentially useless.

I’m yet to fix the “Archive” template, but next on the list.

The EE package is generally superb, the provided templates ain’t up to snuff with the rest of the package.

    What is your question?

The EE package is generally superb, the provided templates ain’t up to snuff with the rest of the package.

The default/basic templates that ship with EE are just that: basic.  There just enough to get you started, so that you get an “general idea” of how the tags work together. Unlike something like WordPress, where the templates and PHP provided are what you use to run a WordPress site.

Actually, since ExpressionEngine is powered with PHP, we wouldn’t be able to ‘get most of the code’, as PHP is a server-side script.

But if you copy/paste some code in here surrounded like this:

    [code] ... your PHP and/or ExpressionEngine code [ /code]

We’d be able to assist you better.
