I have a custom field with formatting set to none and it still inserts tags around the entries. I’ve tried changing formatting to auto
and back again to none, making sure i check the box that updates existing entries. The first time the page is shown there are no tags. subsequent views have the tags included.
Help please…

Which version/build of EE are you running? You can find that out at the bottom of each control panel page.
If you go back and look at the entry a second time, is the field still set to None?
