Hello, just a question in regards the simple commerce module included with ExpressionEngine. I would like to open a new website for selling memberships, for downloading pdf e-books.

Can this be handled by the Simple Commerce module? The final user should choose 3 or 6 months membership, pay through PayPal and once the payment will be approved, the user should be able to access a special website area (for members only) being able to download the files. Will the Simple Commerce module also generate invoices?

    Many thanks in advance.

The Simple Commerce module isn’t a perfect fit for the above.  What it can do- if they are already a member, then a purchase can be set to automatically trigger a member upgrade.

However- they first have to sign up and be logged in when purchasing.  Also- it’s not going to handle ‘demoting’ them in 3-6 months.  It’s a one-shot thing- they make the purchase, their membership group is changed.

So- to get exactly what you need will take a bit of custom work.  Or- some folks have gone with aMember to handle this end of things for EE.  Probably other approaches as well.
