Hi, I have allready asked some questions before I take the plunge but some new possibilities have landed and I want to see if EE is the way to go for these too.

A common request is for Events to be listed and dates to be chosen from a Calender. Now, I can do that with the CMS I use just now but I wast to go to something which is more extensible (it is Perl based).

There are ways that I like Forms to work and I have seen 1 forms implementation in EE and was not sure about it. So can you do this?

Design a Contact Form and then check (server Side) if the user has filled in the Required Fields and if not highlight these fields whilst retaining all the data that has been entered allready.

On the one implementation I have tested it went to an Error page saying what had been missed and a Back button implemented using the history.go(-1); function. I didn’t like this at all as a method - is that standard or can I submit the page to itself and make the form more intuitive when highlighting errors?

I am sure I will have a million more questions soon…

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Greetings, Mark—

You can certainly enable form validation, you could even use Ajax for it.  You may be better off with FreeForm from solspace.com if you need that, however.  It’s a very popular module.

Absolutely EE can do event calendars. The way that it is often handled is via a weblog where you enter each event as an entry, then you use the Calendar tag to output the information in the correct format:

There is also a plugin called RepEET, found here at our wiki plugins page.

which can handle recurring events, and events that span dates. Here are some site introductions that have sites that feature event calendars:

We also have a new Showcase category for Event Calendars.

and you can find a quick tutorial here in the wiki.

Hi Lisa, Thats good to hear and know - helps a lot - will post my final questions soon - EE seems to cover it all and I didn’t realise it parsed PHP as well if you switched that option on - fantastic.

    Thanks,

    Mark
