    Hi,
I run a site that is on a personal, non-commercial license. I have just been asked to do another non-commercial site for a school sports team…okay, it’s my son’s team. But still…
My questions are these (and I have checked the forums but didn’t find the exact information)
    1. Should I purchase the Multiple site license to add another site?
    2. If so, can I, and I am not sure of the correct language here, import the current site before adding the new site?
    3. I am a little unclear on the pricing. If I were to purchase MSM non-commercial, does that include EE for three sites or do I need to purchase 3 EE licenses?
    4. If I already own one license, assuming that MSM includes 3 EE licenses, do I get a discount or do I then get to use 4?
I know these may seem obvious to you all but it’s confusing to me. Probably because I already have one license. But, actually, now having gone over the MSM page again, it’s still not clear to me even if I didn’t have a license.
Thanks for your time. If I get a response tonight, I will be purchasing tonight. I just need to know…
    Thanks,
    Carole Carter

    Greetings, Carole,

Before you jump into the MSM, consider a few things, all relating to the Multiple Site Manager being intended for related internet sites.

    1) Membership is installation-wide.
    2) It is not possible to easily spin-off a site out of the MSM (say, if your son stops being on that team for some reason).
    3) All Sites must be owned by the same person; for the team, I would expect that the team itself would actually own the site, where you own your site.

I think in your situation I would be more likely to go with a personal/non-profit, separate installation for a team site; it just seems more appropriate for the situation.

Does that make sense?  I can answer your MSM questions if you’d like, but in this instance I’d encourage you to look at a separate full license/installation for the team site.

    Lisa,
Thanks for your quick reply. I think I’m all set now and will purchase another non-commercial license.
Again, many thanks, you helped clear things up for me.
    Carole
