Is it possible to organize content into folders and subfolders with EE? For example, if I wanted to separate my content so there was one main folder “Global widgets” where it had subfolders of “North America”, “Asia”, “South America”, and so on. Then, is it possible to go even deeper say for the North America folder to have subfolders “Canada”, “USA”, “Mexico”, and then go one level deeper to have under USA, “New York”, “California”, “Texas” etc.

From what I’ve read, creating a template group creates the first subfolder, and a template creates a pseudo 2nd level folder (http://www.mysite.com/index.php/templategroup/template). I don’t see a way to generate template groups or templates so that I could end up with a structure like http://www.mysite.com/index.php/global_widgets/north_america/usa/new_york/local_widgets

I’m mainly interested to know if EE provides a way to organize weblog content into folders so as not to lump everything into one area. Thanks.

There are no folders in EE.  What you want sounds, to me, like Hierarchal categories - which we have built-in. That is a great way to organize content the way you describe.

    Hi Lisa,
Yes, hierarchical categories does sound like what I’m looking for. Is there documentation on that feature? I looked on the docs page here but didn’t see categories mentioned. Could you point me in the right direction?
    Thanks.

Just search for categories - the first 5-6 links are the ones that’ll help you the most. =)

Actually, enter “categories” as the search in the top right of the docs - those are the results of use to you. =)
