Running 1.6, with MSM installed. All three domains on same Media Temple DV server - and all were working fine when linked as subdomains of one domain.

Background: Was running three sites from one domain (all were subdomains) on our development server. Now have migrated the whole thing to domain1.com.

I need to connect domain2.com and domain3.com via the MSM, but whether through fatigue or slightly confusing documentation (I do think the MSM docs are a bit difficult), or maybe the fact that my colleague jamie set it up initially, I cannot connect the other two sites.

    The default domain1.com works fine.

In domain.2.com/index.php I get “The system path does not appear to be set correctly. Please open your path.php file and correct the path.”. I have tried various paths, extra dots, server paths etc.

It is all a bit confusing. Here are some questions:

    1. On the dev install, there were no “directories” in the root of our main domain to hold the path.php and index.php clones, yet I read in the forums that you recommend this.If I need to set up new directories at my main domain name, how should I do this?
    2. There are barely any prefs for the MSM but I think there are more when initially setting it up(?), so I looked in PhpMyAdmin and when Jamie set it up he must have specified the subdomains for each site. Do I edit these to the new domain names via PhpMyAdmin?
    3. I think I’m just confused. How does EE know the location of the other domains and exactly how does it link to them and vice versa.
    4. in each path.php, should I fill in the site_url and if so, the main domain or the second domain?

Like I say, I’m really tired through days and nights of coding, so I’m somehow a bit lost here. Deadline is tomorrow morning!
