Hello. We have tried to do mod rewrites for our installed version of EE at bluehost.com. EE does not write scripts/queries to the htaccess file. We need to be able to support the search engine friendly URL’s on our EE site.

We spoke to bluehost support several times, and they indicated we need to contact you to make this work since they do not know your program and thus do not know what they need to “switch on” to make it work.

THe mod_rewrite worked for the version installed on our own servers.

I am not the programmer myself, so I hope I explained this correctly.

    Thanks
    Peter

Server rewrites are not something that our Technical Support Specialists can provide support for as it is an issue involving server environment setup and not one directly related to the software.  That said, our community driven Wiki has an article instructing how to use .htaccess to remove index.php from the URL on most servers.  There are also a few articles in the SEO category that you might find informative.

    Welcome aboard, Peter!
