    Hi all,

How do people handle email newsletters in EE?

In my opinion the best way would be to have either the option to send emails as usual with via Communicate and via a drop-down menu listing posts from a particular weblog. This way the there is an option to link directly to the newsletter should their email client fail to render the email correctly. Also being able to edit the email newsletter with a WYSIWYG editor would be the cherry on the top.

    Thoughts?

    Hi there,

I’m also interested in hearing how people handle this as my organisation has several newsletters that we are currently maintaining in Dreamweaver, and then mass-emailing using external software. The ability to create an enewsletter and distribute it via EE would be very nice indeed!

For newsleter signups (multiple form capabilities) take a look at the freeform module

For mailouts just use Cp > Communicate which ties in with the freeform module. HTML emails are no problem (but you’ll still need to create externally in advance) you can include an unsubscribe link handled by freeform and also add a link to your newsletter as an alternative method of viewing (again you’ll need to write this yourself)

I’m working on an HTML email WYSIWYG kludge for a client at the moment but finding that the extensions available are destroying my code ...cross mail client headache!

In short it can be done but it’s probably more efficient to continue using your current methods.

No ways. Thanks for the tip mx3design. Will look into it.
