I’ve read the docs on how to remove/hide index.php but I’m wondering how the best way - if possible - to change what now is this.

    http://www.mysite.com/index.php/template_group/template

    to appear as this:

    http://www.mysite.com/template

Also, does this negatively affect the multiple site manager/having multiple sites in one EE installation?  I don’t have that installed now but might down the road…

    thanks,

The template group really should be in there.  If you aren’t using custom 404’s and leave it out, it should default to your default template group.  But I haven’t played with it in ages, because I really don’t recommend doing it.  If you include the template group name and leave out the template name?  It will default to that group’s index page.  I do that all the time- and it would still result in the same number of segments.  Means you have to make more template groups, rather than having all of the templates in the same group- but it’s semantics at that point.

(You can also check this wiki entry- but I just stick with EE’s default url behavior- sans index.php.  It makes life easier in the long run.

Hi Robin, yeah good point.  I’m gonna leave it in there - it’s not as annoying as the index.php part which I have successfully taken out.  Thanks :D

Heh- yea, I don’t like the index.php either.  But otherwise- a good naming convention with your template groups results in nice urls, at least from my perspective.
