It seems that there are two separate registration forms…one for Expression Engine’s core, and one for the Forums add-on.

My question is do I really need both?  Is there an inherent difference between registering for my core EE, and the registration for the forums?

I’d prefer to not have a separate registration form for the Forums section.  Is it as simple as re-coding the links for Control Panel and Register within the Forum section to the main EE registration page?

    Here’s the difference:

My preferred registration page (with altered prompts and TOS):
    http://www.unionsportsmen.org/index.php/member/register/

The additional one that the Forums section uses (not preferred and unmodified):
    http://www.unionsportsmen.org/index.php/forums/member/register/

No- you can run them all through either the forum or the ‘regular’ member templates.  This site runs all member links (at least the member profile templates) through the forum member profile templates.  But you can do it the other way around- it’s largely a matter of changes links.  (Once you’ve done the regular ones, it’s also pretty easy to then do the forum ones if you like- but more maintenance running both.)  Derek talks about it a bit in this thread.
