What are the limitations with the 30-Day trial that are not present in a non-trial version?

I realize I cannot add modules and I see that Batch Processing is Not Available With Demo, but what else is there, or rather what else isn’t there?

Can I add additional Blogs? Right now it looks like I can add additional blogs, but I can’t create any additional url’s for these blogs. Am I missing something, or is this a part of the trial?

    Hi, Dan—

There are some limitations in regards to security.  The ability to run queries in the MySQL Utility is not present and you can not enable PHP on the templates.  FTP is not available, so as you said, installing third party add-ons of any type is not possible, nor is the batch processing.

That is all that I can think of off-hand.  If you run into any issues that you think may be related to the trial, feel free to let us know and I’ll be happy to look into them for you.

I’m also going to move this to a more appropriate forum. =)

    Hi Lisa,
    Thanks for the quick reply.

I’m finding it impossible to add a second weblog. Is this something that is not allowed in the Trial?

While I can create the weblog and it appears under the Publish menu I can’t create a unique url to address the blog directly.

I don’t think this is group of privilege issue, but I might be wrong.

No, that’s not limited. What happens when you try to add one?  I don’t understand what you mean by “create a unique URL” - URLs go to templates, not weblogs. Templates can call weblogs, but don’t necessarily have to.

Under “CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Weblog Management ›  Edit Weblog== General Weblog Preferences”

    I see:
Weblog URL, The URL to this particular weblog

    I tried making this url:
    http://demo.pmachine.com/LMrcj/index2.php instead of index.php

and I also tried appending a “2” to the directory “LMrcj”, but neither worked.

In “CP Home ›  Templates ›  Template Access Restriction==Template Access Restriction (index)”
I set only Members who are able to view

    Is this creating problems?

That weblog url is only really called in a variable in the weblog info tag.

How do you mean that it didn’t work? Also - since you do not have FTP access, and can not actually rename those files, I would highly advise against changing “index.php”. =)

The template access restrictions are separate.

I mean I wasn’t able to access a page with that name; and therefore I’m not able to see two blogs.

I can only see one blog which only contains the posts to that one blog.

I have no idea, nor have I attempted to use the “weblog info tag.”

I just want to be able to access two, or more blogs, at two or more, unique url’s. How else can I see this additional blog?

All data stored in weblogs is displayed through the templates.  To show two blogs, you would edit your template, and locate something similar to {exp:weblog:entries weblog="default_site"} and change it to weblog=“default_site|weblog2shortname”

You can read about that here.

I would also recommend looking at the Video Tutorials and Getting Started section of the docs for an overview of how this all works. =)

It’s late, so I’ll do that tomorrow when I can think clearer.
