Today we had a few sites throw a “Disallowed Character” error when users would click from one page to another. We tracked it down to Google analytics which has suddenly logged cookies on our servers with a ~1 suffix. This has affected quite a few of our sites from EE 1.6.8 to EE 2.5.5.  We have removed the analytic code from some of the affected sites but we have a few out there pulling feeds in from sites that do use the code. This is affecting Expression Engine as well and the sites pulling in feds are throwing the “Disallowed Character” error. Is there a fix for this without us having to update all the sites? Quite a few of these sites are huge and we simply don’t have the resources to update all of them.

Asked and answered. We replaced our Google tracking code with a more current version. It seems to have helped. Keep your fingers crossed. It still, however, hasn’t helped the sites that are pulling in feeds. We’ll have to figure out another solution for those sites.
