Hi, I’m following the instructions from this page:
http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/upgrade_from_1.x.html
The first step says:
Download the most recent release of ExpressionEngine (either ExpressionEngine Core or the standard edition, whichever your site is currently running) and unzip the files to a folder on your computer.
It’s been so long, I don’t know if I have Core or standard. If it helps, the bottom of my control panel reads as follows:
ExpressionEngine 1.6.1 - © Copyright 2003 - 2007 - EllisLab, Inc.
Script executed in 1.0204 seconds 21 SQL queries used
Build: 20071204
At this point, this is just for a personal blog and collection of my articles, so I only need the Core version. Can I simply install that and then upgrade to standard if need be? (That is, if I in fact have that option, given my old build.)
Also, is there anything else I need to know before taking the plunge? Can I go straight from 1.6.1 to 2.8.x? Or do I have to do mid upgrades because it’s so old?
Thanks for your help!
