Hiya folks! Check out this scenario:

We have a campaign I need to run...call it, CampaignX. We have a bunch of partners in CampaignX we are emailing (say 1000). However, when we email all the 1000 partners in this campaign, we want to be able to give them 1000 different URLs (one each of course) to click on to go to the same campaign page within my EE website. Why you ask? Well, we want to be able to know which ones of the 1000 partners are actively going to this campaign page. Alternatively, we would like (potentially), like to create different campaigns with different URLs/Page IDs so we can give them different offers.

Effectively, what we need is to be able to create a page within EE that supports multiple URLs/Page IDs so we can use them in a campaign (through email, for example).

If the answer is a plugin/module, please let me know. If there is a way to do this within EE itself with some kind of custom code, can you also advise? Any advise/direction here would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    Thanks,

    The Doubleclick Team

    Hi,

I think u can do it in a simple way.

let us say the page url without id is : http://yourdomain/campaign_page/

so all what u need is add the id u want as last segment and send it to ur partner for e.g http://yourdomain/campaign_page/100

then in the template u can get the id value with {last_segment} and do what u want with it.

I hope this will help u,

    Regard’s.

Hi Ahmad Saad, thanks for your reply…I understood everything up until when you said…“then in the template…” - can you be a little more specific about what we would need to do with the id value with the {last segment}? Ideally, we need to record a page URL and match it up to a partner so we know they have clicked on their link and actually gone to the page. Many thanks!

    Hi doubleclick,

when I told u “then in the template u can get the id value with {last_segment} and do what u want with it.”

this because I don’t know what u plan to do with this id , I don’t know what in ur mind .

but in general u can use a php code inside this template to add a value to a channel field or anything else.

if there is anything else give me the details and ask what u want.

    Regard’s.

Thanks, Ahmad Saad! I’ll figure out a creative way to manipulate with PHP and post up for more opinions tomorrow. Many thanks again!
