    Hi.

I am observing a huge problem on my sites since I updated to 2.7.2 or on clean 2.7.2 installation

All sites are running on PHP 5.4, MySQL 5.5, UTF-8 unicode ci,

    Symptoms:

    1. 2.5.x sites are loading very quick with no problems all the time

    2. 2.7.2 sites are loading very randomly (normal/slow)
    a) sometimes good with very quick response like it suppose to be
    b) sometimes (often times) they load very slow (a few seconds from 3 to 12s)
    - even it is a brand new installation of EE 2.7.2 without any third party plugins, extensions, modules, js, css, etc.
    - even I am on admin pages
    - On admin page I am getting often times like this Script executed in 12.6251 seconds
    - they are on same conditions (server, php, mysql) like 2.5.x version

(it is not happening on older versions of EE)

    Thank you for your help

Strange, I’ve noticed 2.7 to be faster/more responsive that earlier versions!

Have you enabled the debugger to see what’s causing the slowdown?

    Thank you for replay

Yes I have debugger enabled but I does not show anything interesting.

If I load the same site a few times. From time to time it shows fine with Script executed under 0.

But also often is the same site executed in a 6 or more seconds.

It is also happened when I am adding articles on admin site or doing smith else there.

I try also clean cache, optimize DB, clean browser cache. It does randomly.

And I also tried Chrome, Safari. Firefox, Opera. Same results.

    Update:

Only two tables shows randomly longer (10s or more) “access” in debugger:

    SELECT `member_id`, `admin_sess`, `last_activity`, `fingerprint`, `sess_start`
    FROM (`exp_sessions`)
    WHERE `session_id` = 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx'
    AND `fingerprint` = 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx'

    OR

    SELECT *
    FROM (`exp_sites`)
    WHERE `site_id` = 1

but this one just from time to time

Same here. But with EE 2.7
It´s a new site, so not many people will visit the site on agiven day, so traffic is not the issue. I´m on shared hosting, but the hoster is competent, so he will not put too many customers on a server. I checked with my hoster and serverload is ok, there aren´t any other customers with rogue scripts, who will grab more CPU-cycles than they should.
CE Benchmark shows good performance too, but once in a while response times will go from around 1 second up to 2-4 sec and on very rare occasions even up to 11 sec.

I´m assuming spam bots who try to place comment spam. Like a kind of DOS attac. We secured our comment forms with EE´s black/whitelist and a honeypot plugin, so no spam will come through, but the each time a bor tries to place it´s spam, the server can´t serve a real user.

I don´t know if this could be a solution for the randomness.

But let me understand you better, please.

So your problem was solved with anti spam system? Or it is still happening?

On my site there is all comments blocked. And I do not use any form right now.

So I am assuming that the spam is not the issue, but I may be wrong.

I’m experiencing slowness to my site as well after upgrading from 2.5.5 to 2.7.2. It’s random to which page loads slowly, but it’s happening enough to be causing issues with my site visitors.
