Reworking Tabs on Publish Page Leads to Missing Fields

Giving 2.7.1 a go, and all was looking good until I got to the point of customizing publish layouts. I can reorder fields etc. just like normal, and save without issue. However, I noticed that weirdness creeps in whenever I start working with the tabs:

    * Add a Tab and it shows up in the tabs listing lowercase, regardless of the case you enter, and displays spaces as underscores. Not a huge deal, but far from ideal.

    * More importantly, when I move fields (e.g., entry date) to another tab (e.g., options) and delete those the empty tab (e.g. date), it saves successfully, but then I find that fields seem to disappear on the Publish page (particularly URL Title and other fields that may have been resized, etc.). I can’t do anything to get them back but reset the pub layout to default.

After fumbling with this for a bit, I did a clean install to make sure it wasn’t coming from a module, and got the same bugs. Is anyone else running into this? Or have ideas on how to sidestep it?

I have also found these same issues on a brand new install.

Same here on a brand new install. Really hoping this doesn’t creep in and screw up countless custom publish layouts on 2.7.1 upgrades. It probably will, though.

Hi guys - I reported it on the bug board and they posted a patch that solved most of the problems (for me, at least):
