So I’ve been aimlessly searching through pages and pages of Google, GoDaddy support, and EllisLabs forums to no avail….

I’m attempting to get the built in mail working with GoDaddy hosting. Now I know the simple solution, move to a different server. I’m not doing that, so I’ll just get that out of the way now. The customer is already set and it ain’t hapenin’! 😊

Now, I’ve tried to configure all of the email options – PHP, Sendmail, SMTP – and when using Tools > Communicate everything seems fine? The emails go through using PHP, not Sendmail and SMTP though, even though SMTP shows everything is working?

I’m using CartThrob on the site, and using it’s notifications, which uses EE’s mail, I get a spew of PHP errors. This didn’t happen on my dev server, of course. And I know it’s related to GoDaddy, somehow – especially from what my searches produced.

So I’m hoping some wonderful soul out there has managed to get EE and GoDaddy to play well and can provide some helpful advice! Fingers crossed…

ANY help greatly appreciated!! Would love to get this going, and can’t express enough my distaste for GoDaddy and their fu-bared approach to hosting…

Solved: for those curious, have to use SMTP (as far as I know?).

In CI>Libraries>Email.php I had to change the newline and crlf strings from “\n” to “\r\n”, then setup Admin>Email Configuration with GoDaddy supplied smtp info. I had to use port 80 (25 is default if left blank) and smtpout.secureserver.net as the stmp server.

Then I entered the GoDaddy email login credentials and all seems to be working fine now.

This works for everyone except GoDaddy email accounts. I can send out from godaddy to any email but when I send out to GoDaddy it never comes. Any thoughts?

I’m confused why there isn’t a fix for this yet. It seems as the EE is just not willing to play ball with GoDaddy and fix this. It’s a major issue and I have a lot of clients who are on GoDaddy servers…

Just an update for the sake of the community here.

I called GoDaddy and they had to put my email on the Remote list Permissions and that solved the issue…
