We ran the 2.61 installer on a 2.22 install to upgrade.
Installer didn’t complete - hung on survey question?

We decide to go back to 2.22 and start again, so used our backup but now have no access to the CP and the front end renders blank.

All the files look good on the server.

If we turn on debug we get the following…

    Error Number: 1054

Unknown column ‘t.dst_enabled’ in ‘field list’

    SELECT t.entry_id, t.channel_id, t.forum_topic_id, t.author_id, t.ip_address, t.title, t.url_title, t.status, t.dst_enabled, t.view_count_one, t.view_count_two, t.view_count_three, t.view_count_four, t.allow_comments, t.comment_expiration_date, t.sticky, t.entry_date, t.year, t.month, t.day, t.edit_date, t.expiration_date, t.recent_comment_date, t.comment_total, t.site_id as entry_site_id, w.channel_title, w.channel_name, w.channel_url, w.comment_url, w.comment_moderate, w.channel_html_formatting, w.channel_allow_img_urls, w.channel_auto_link_urls, w.comment_system_enabled, m.username, m.email, m.url, m.screen_name, m.location, m.occupation, m.interests, m.aol_im, m.yahoo_im, m.msn_im, m.icq, m.signature, m.sig_img_filename, m.sig_img_width, m.sig_img_height, m.avatar_filename, m.avatar_width, m.avatar_height, m.photo_filename, m.photo_width, m.photo_height, m.group_id, m.member_id, m.bday_d, m.bday_m, m.bday_y, m.bio, md.*, wd.* FROM exp_channel_titles AS t LEFT JOIN exp_channels AS w ON t.channel_id = w.channel_id LEFT JOIN exp_channel_data AS wd ON t.entry_id = wd.entry_id LEFT JOIN exp_members AS m ON m.member_id = t.author_id LEFT JOIN exp_member_data AS md ON md.member_id = m.member_id WHERE t.entry_id IN (151) ORDER BY t.sticky desc, t.entry_date desc, t.entry_id desc

Any ideas would be good to receive!

Just had the exact same problem- currently the admin side works fine but the site won’t load:

    Error Number: 1054

Same error with me after roll-back from 2.6.1 to 2.5.5 with admin working but not Edit or Publish.

Solution: After also rolling back the database to its original form, it worked again. 2.6.1 apparently makes a number of essential changes to the database.

Same error when updating 2.5.3 to 2.6.1. Can access the CP but the website gives the same error others reported.

    OK. We have 2.6.1 working.

After we ran the 2.61 installer on a 2.22 install to upgrade, the installer didn’t complete and hung.

We reverted back to 2.22 but had no access to the CP and the front end rendered blank which was resolved by dumping and importing our database backup.

With 2.22 running and armed with new backups, we again ran the 2.6.1 installer and hey presto it worked!

Why? We have no idea. But working it is.

    /pats back ups.

I got the exact same error message, after using the Updater add-on to backup the site/add-ons.

I reviewed the official EE updating instructions, and saw the below point:

In your ExpressionEngine Control Panel, go to Tools ‣ Data ‣ Clear Caching. Select All Caches and click Submit.

I did this, and now the site is appearing correctly.

Same solution that zedg mentioned worked.

This applies to the following error:

    Error Number: 1054

Unknown column 't.dst_enabled' in 'field list'

    SELECT t.entry_id, t.channel_id, t.forum_topic_id, t.author_id, t.ip_address, t.title, t.url_title, t.status, t.dst_enabled, t.view_count_one, t.view_count_two, t.view_count_three, t.view_count_four, t.allow_comments, t.comment_expiration_date, t.sticky, t.entry_date, t.year, t.month, t.day, t.edit_date, t.expiration_date, t.recent_comment_date, t.comment_total, t.site_id as entry_site_id, w.channel_title, w.channel_name, w.channel_url, w.comment_url, w.comment_moderate, w.channel_html_formatting, w.channel_allow_img_urls, w.channel_auto_link_urls, m.username, m.email, m.url, m.screen_name, m.location, m.occupation, m.interests, m.aol_im, m.yahoo_im, m.msn_im, m.icq, m.signature, m.sig_img_filename, m.sig_img_width, m.sig_img_height, m.avatar_filename, m.avatar_width, m.avatar_height, m.photo_filename, m.photo_width, m.photo_height, m.group_id, m.member_id, m.bday_d, m.bday_m, m.bday_y, m.bio, md.*, wd.* FROM exp_channel_titles AS t LEFT JOIN exp_channels AS w ON t.channel_id = w.channel_id LEFT JOIN exp_channel_data AS wd ON t.entry_id = wd.entry_id LEFT JOIN exp_members AS m ON m.member_id = t.author_id LEFT JOIN exp_member_data AS md ON md.member_id = m.member_id WHERE t.entry_id IN (227) ORDER BY t.sticky desc, t.entry_date asc, t.entry_id asc

Upgrading from 2.1.0 to 2.6.1 using DevDemon’s Upgrader module.

I’m experiencing near identical difficulties updating from 2.5.2 to 2.7.0.

I’ve successfully updated a development sandbox instance and the live production instance with MSM moving from 4 to 5 sites, hence the necessity to upgrade.

After updating the staging environment though three of the existing four sites function just fine but the fourth is displaying exactly the same error message as Rye Design.

I’ve tried a restore of the database and config files and re-run the installation/update script after clearing all cookies and cache. I’ve also tried Zedg’s suggestion of clearing all caches from within the control panel and still the same error.

Interestingly clearing the browser cache and domain cookies following the update results in a blank page.

I’ve even tried renaming all the third_party modules to eliminate them from the load and only bringing them back up upon error but that made no difference.

I’ve enabled debug to trap any PHP errors but nothing.

Any other suggestions as to what may have occurred and possible solutions welcome.
    Thanks
    Alex

Update: The blank page after clearing cookies was because I was essentially logged out and had debug output only visible to superadmins.

But the issue with the unknown column t.dst_enabled remains.

Thank you zedg! Clearing the cache fixed the issue. Nothing like that feeling in your gut when you upgrade and get an error.

Thanks for the “clear cache” tip - had a similar error, that solved it. Man, updating EE still remains a painful process, even after doing this for years.
