    Hello,

We are a small (really tiny, 3 people) and new (5 months) spanish company. We have done so far 3 sites with EE (first CMS ever we used), so I can say we know the basics about channels, templates and add-ons. This sites are all multilingual, so i messed with .htaccess, index.php and tiny changes to core files or add-on files. We used php in templates in various ways (custom queries, retrieving or writting values directly to the database…).

    Now, the question:

We have been asked to build a site for an educational organization. This site should have some general information about the organization, news and blog sections, maybe some forms. This organizations has numerous schools, wich one should has its own site wich will be managed by people on each school and should let some degree of customization.

Our first thought has been the multi site manager, but we never used it before. Reading the description, seems that fit quite well for the purpose of the work, making the general site and subdomains for the school sites and with some template groups as model site, leting in the future extend this templates for individual sites if they demand it.

At the moment, students doesn’t have interaction with the site, but would be insane thinking on build (in the future) a web app around the site, using EE as base, working with channels, safecracker and member groups? Would let me some kind of automation in user group assignement? Would be possible to integrate this with some kind of moodle tool? Could be EE converter in a Learning Manage System :D? I guess that this would require some sort of serious customization and goes beyond the project we have been asked, but is good to know anyway.

Sorry for the lack of specific information, I’ll come with more questions probably in the future as they arise, and sorry for my limited english.

    Thanks in advance
