I am the Super Admin for a new site we are building.  When I try and edit a member’s email address (without password) I get this message: “The password you submitted was not correct”.

If I click the <—Back link on the error page, and submit the email change again (without password) it just redirects me to the Control Panel home page.

The 2.5.5 documentation notes that Super Admins should be able to do this without knowing the member’s password.

*This also happens when I try to reset someone’s password.  First I get and error, hit <—Back, try again and it redirects to the CP home.

    thanks!

** resolved.  I’m a dummy.  I read in the 2.5.4 release notes I have to enter MY PASSWORD (super admin)

I double checked the admin]http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/cp/my_account/index.html]admin guide[/url] online and it states “The password is not required when the person editing is a SuperAdmin account.”

This needs to be updated to reflect the change is 2.5.4

I just had this problem on a new install I did this week. You correctly point out that one must use the super admin password to make the change. Neither leaving it blank nor using the member’s correct password will work.

This is an absurd hoop to have to jump through. I am logged in as a super admin and setting up a lot of first time staff accounts. I should not have to reenter my long and complex admin password to make changes after already logging in with said password.
