I previously posted at http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/231076/ and didn’t get a reply:
A brief summary of my situation:
I posted in the EE 1 community forum because I had trouble upgrading to 1.73:
http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/230614/ and
http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/230668/As per Derek’s suggestion, I signed up for the FREE Silver support and Dan fixed the database problems and upgraded to EE 2. He sent me the DEVELOPMENT copy of everything and I uploaded it to my new web host (the old host php was too old.) And he gave me these instructions:
The process is documented, step-by-step in the User Guide. Start at step 5 using the SQL dump that is in the .zip file I’ve linked to before.
You need to download that .zip, unzip it, and upload those files to your server via FTP. Then follow the user guide. If that is all foreign to you, you’ll need to contact a professional to help beyond this.
Unfortunately I really am an idiot (which is why I’m now using WordPress) because I just can’t get this going.
5. Prepare the New Database¶
Create a new, empty database on the new server and import the back-up file you created in Step 4 into it. Typically this will be a SQL file (or a ZIP file containing the SQL file).
So, I created a new empty database and I tried to import Dan’s file. I get this error:
Error
SQL query:
LOCK TABLES `exp_blogger` WRITE ;
MySQL said: Documentation
#1146 - Table ‘pmh2852_a.exp_blogger’ doesn’t existNow what?
And, I hope it’s normal that the EE 2 database is a lot smaller than the EE 1 database (5.5 mb v 38 mb).
Greatly appreciate help with this!
My site has been down well over a month now and all I want is to get a file with all posts and comments for the 2 blogs in that EE install for import to WordPress.
I freely admit that I’m too damn stupid for EE and decided to post my request / offer here before I take it to the web.
