After updating the files running the update script returns an error:

    A Database Error Occurred
    Error Number: 1060

    Duplicate column name 'can_search'

ALTER TABLE expv1_member_groups ADD COLUMN can_search char(1) NOT NULL default 'n'

    Filename: updates/ud_009.php

    Line Number: 112

I searched in the forums and it seemed the thing to do was comment out the line in the php file.
I notice this is the first line in the first file that wants to change something in the database.
when I comment the line out it just stops at the next line.

I am lost here; anybody any idea what is happening?

because this was the first line in the first file trying to change the database, i thought it might be trying to make obsolete changes. I deleted all the files in ‘updates’ that had a versionnumber less than my current installation and run the updater with the rest. It seems to have worked.

Very strange, it shouldn’t have been running the ud_009 update file, glad you’ve got it figured out though! Maybe app_version was blanked out in your config.php for some reason.

When I started the update it stated correctly that I was updating from 2.5.2. So unless this information here is coming from some other place than the config file, the info in the config file would have been there / correct?

Yes that’s correct, AndrĂ©, app_version should have been correctly set then, not sure what may have happened.
