    Finally migrating a client with a huge database, multiple sub sites (10), and other issues over to ExpressionEngine 2. Everything’s going as planned, except the sub-sites. We ARE NOT using MSM, for a variety of reasons.

    All the sub-sites were previously set-up and working fine, so path.php is properly configured. But for some, really odd reason, ONLY the home page is loading under the various domain names. Clicking on a link that pulls an article, the stylesheet, etc., returns a 404 error. I pretty much followed the instructions from version 1.x of the User Guide, combined with the Wiki.

    We are removing /index.php and none of the sites require their own specific login.

    My brains a bit fried, any ideas of what may have gone wrong, especially since the home page loads (w/o styles, since the css file is getting a 404 error)?

    Found the issue. In the system configuration file, there’s a section, URI PROTOCOL.  The default is set to “auto”.  I switched to…

    $config['uri_protocol'] = "PATH_INFO";

    and walla, fully functional subsites again.
