I’m new to EE and would like to get the input of experts here on what Add Ons (free or paid) would be ideal to always (meaning, most users would probably benefit from the Ad On) have as part of a “standard” EE build. Here are a couple of promising Add Ons, I think:

    - http://ee-garage.com/override-css (maybe?)

    Thoughts?

Can you summarize what each of these does?

They will move this off Support but I can’t live without:

    Playa, - related entries
Matrix - rows and colums of goodness within a channel entry
    Wigwam - Super WYSIWYG

Back Up Pro - back up your site
Deploy Helper - change your paths and URLs all in one shot
Honee - Spam filter via hidden field
Low no spam - good mail filter if Honee fails

Img Sizer - resize your images on the fly

    Honorable Mention
Single Entry - for that annoying contact page
Social bookmark - post this page on all your walls
    SEO lite - seo stuff
FreeForm - used to be good, lately been shit I still use the old version

    Not recomended:
MoreEvents - shit programming no support plugin for cartthrob
DataGrab - Decent App, 0 support

I can’t say that addons are “always” needed, it really depends on the site, content and how you want to manipulate everything. Plus the fact that installing addons just for the sake of it isn’t something I’d do, rather I evaluate what’s really needed, I can always add addons later if they are needed.

Saying that, then Matrix is on most sites I build, followed by Playa, then whatever WYSIWYG suits the needs of my client.

Thanks vlad, I will be looking into these add ons. Maybe I might consider them as well. Thanks!

Thanks, will take a look at Matrix a bit closer.
