I have a site that has Hotel listings. I have a channel setup to make each entry a hotel listing.  Within this channel I used the check boxes in the custom fields in order to address amenities. Non-smoking/pool/breakfast etc. I used the check boxes because i wanted to display the associated amenities with the hotel in the detail template.

What I want to accomplish is creating a simple search of amenities using check boxes or even a drop down (as long as it can be a multi-select).  I have been looking into using the native EE search, or even Low Search and Super Search.  But it seems like those are all too complicated for what I am trying to achieve.  It seems that there is an easy way to do this, I just can’t see it yet.

I have looked everywhere on the help docs, tried numerous versions of the search code, researched online…but still just can’t wrap my head around it.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve done something very similar with Low Search as well (filtering on custom fields) - along with Low’s Low options addon - http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/low-options - for making adding field data to form easy.
