    Hi,

My client asked me to move their EE 2.4.0. webite to another server with another domainname. Want to keep both sites up till the moment the migration is complete. I did all the steps as suggested in the installation instructions department. The site works in the browser but most of the big top buttons (home, content, design, add-ons, members etc.) in the controlpanel do not work. They don’t click to anywhere. These buttons also have a more square design (but that is not important).

I am a little stuck in finding a clue to solve this. Other than starting with a fresh installation. But I am very scary for that scenario with all the installed plugins doing all over again.

I guess it has something to do with the control panel theme and some paths in there maybe.

This does sound like its missing some files or could be a javascript error. You can open up firebug or console depending on browser to make sure all the files are loading correctly.

Thank you Lab Assistant for your reply.

My browser is Safari 4.1.3 on mac G5 (10.4.11).

In Safari the activity overview screen (in Dutch language ‘activiteitenoverzicht’, don’t know the exact name in English) shows no errors except the missing favo.icon.

I also checked the control panel in Firefox and to my surprise I saw that the control panel is there fully functional.

How is that possible. The site and a copy of it have a different behaving controlpanel in Safari. In Firefox the copy and the original are the behaving the same.

Clearing caches in EE and Safari makes no difference.

    Hmm ...

Well I still did not find the reason or wrong code. I tested it on another Mac here with a newer system and there it works also fine. How strange it is, I now go forward to open the site and test it with some members if it works fine there too. I will take the old installation down as soon as all goes well.

If problems still persist with other members I will report here.

    Thank you.

    Hello Piedro,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

It sounds like you just need to upload your themes folder again and double check the perms.

Also, make sure that you have the paths correctly defined in the Control Panel, if the path and URL are not correct, the Control Panel will not show right.

Please let me know what you find.

    Cheers,

    Thank you Shane!

Uploading the themes folder (again) did the job! (chmod 755 old and new).

    Thanks again!

    regards,
