EE has three popular ecommerce addons from what I know- Brilliant Retail, Exp-resso and Cartthrob. I was wondering if any of them can work as a catalog more than an ecommerce solution.
Basically I would like the option to create product types which have a set number of specs- so for example have Phones as a product type with custom fields like screen size, operating system and battery life, or, have a product type like Camera with custom fields like included lens, body type and iso levels. And then add products based on these product types and compares them or list them with filtering etc. Would also like the option to have multiple vendors display their prices for a product instead of just one.
Would also very much like products and manufacturers to be channel entries so they could work with other parts of the site such as posting news articles related to a certain product or manufacturer.
Has anybody setup any of the ecommerce add-ons in such a way? Is there one that works better than the other?
