The other day I was searching Google for something CodeIgniter related, and it seems that Google now associates CodeIgniter with the spam that is always on here. I don’t even need to mention the topics, because if you come here all the time you know what they are. When CodeIgniter was listed on page one for whatever I searched for, it had spam posts showing underneath, as if they were the important posts I wanted to see.

Some of the spam that is on here could so easily be blocked, but now it appears to be SEO self-optimizing itself. Come on guys, we are supposed to run the internet, not let it take us for a ride. Why is it so hard to stop?

Stopping the spam is easy. Making spam blocking a priority at EllisLab seems to be the hard part.

Allowing volunteers to take care of it would be an easy fix in the interim, but that hasn’t even been mentioned as a potential option that I’m aware of.

Maybe showing that spam is now actually being related to CodeIgniter in search engines will help with that. I’d suggest renaming this thread’s title to better convey its seriousness - maybe it’ll get more attention.

And cue complete form-wide spamming by a single person. Come ON, Ellislab. Take ONE developer and give them ONE AFTERNOON to fix this.
