I updated my installation of Expression Engine to the latest version a week ago using the “Updater” module by DevDemon. I upgraded from 2.5.0 to 2.5.3.
So since then I have experienced an issue which seems to be a bit bizarre.
Subsequent to that upgrade when I install any NEW third party add-ons the system breaks another addon that has existed there since time immemorial: the Matrix add-on. That is, the Matrix tags will not parse in EE after installation of any further NEW third party add-ons.
I noticed this when I tried installing a new add-on called “shortlist” (http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/shortlist).
NOTE: No templates were touched or edited when this happened. That is, merely the installation of the new add-on(s) broke the ability of EE to parse Matrix add-on tags….
I have attached two pics showing the before and after when adding a new module.
HOWEVER, if I uninstall the new add-on then EE reverts to its original way of doing things parsing the matrix module tags again…. I repeat: everything returns to normal when I UNINSTALL the new add-on or module.
I have added two picture attachments to this email. You will see the
original page as it should look like. Then the broken one, with none
of the “Matrix” tax being parsed.
Here is some extra info:
I have the latest EE installation - that is, EE 2.5.3
I have the latest version of Matrix - that is, Matrix 2.4.3
I have the latest version of the “Shortlist” add-on too - that is, version 1.1
Further, some additional info you might need:
Apache version: 2.2.19
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.1.63-cll
Just in case the PHP version was too old… I have seen some addons
that require minimum PHP 5.3 now.
I am going to try and install further new thrd party add-ons to see if the same
thing happens with those. I have tried installing some of the standard
modules that comes with EE (ones I do not use), like the File module, and they don’t
affect the “matrix” module at all when they are installed. They work.
This seems to affect third party add-ons in general.
