We are bidding for this project, it’s for an NGO. They have 20 units/ departments, each has a slight variation in the web design (mostly through their colours), each units have 10 pages or so explaining what it does. All these units are hosted under the same server, though different domain names may be used to direct users straight to the relevant pages.

So how would EE charge for this? 20 license or 1 license?

We plan to use MSM to centralize the management. And also, can MSM manage so many sites? Has it been done before?

    Hello Jabbler,

It sounds like MSM is the way to go and you should be able to handle the sites through MSM with no problems.

For each site that is live on it’s own, you will need license for it. That can be handled through MSM as well.

    Does that make sense?

Please let me know if I can do anything else to help.

    Cheers,

Starting to makes sense. I went to the store and see there’s MSM Sites license. Do i need to purchase EE license or the MSN Site license? If I need to buy both then the price is quite steep (something around $3,103.15). For this price will you include custom module development?

And if the NGO creates a new unit? It will have to buy additional license. This creates additional headaches for those site managers. The project brief requires perpetual license and reasonable room for expansion.

—EDIT—Seems like I posted this in technical instead of pre-sales. My apologies.

Seems, you’ll need to buy one EE license (around $300), one MSM module license (around $200) and 17 MSM (3 sites included in basic MSM) additional site licenses (around $850). Totally around $1350.

If NGO creates a new unit you will need just buy one more MSM additional site license (around $50). 😉
