This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Hello!

I have installed quite a few ExpressionEngine platforms and have my share of issues to work out.  However, this is something that is really stumping me:  I am trying to install EE and when I get to the step where you access the http://www.yoururl.com/admin.php I get a blank page.  No errors, nothing, just a blank page.  I have tried with different browsers to the same effect.  I’m pretty sure I have the path right as I can access the images in the images folder directly using the same path.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jen

    Hi Jen,

The blank white page usually clues PHP errors that are being suppressed. In order to be sure, open /system/expressionengine/config/config.php and set

    $config['debug'] = '1';

If you still see a blank page, open /admin.php and set $debug = 0; there.

Take note of any errors, or even none - and let me know!

    Cheers,

    Dan,

Thank you for responding to my issue.  I have placed the code from about ($config[‘debug’] = ‘1’;) into the config.php and uploaded.  When I tryed to access the admin.php to install I stil get nothing. No errors.  Just a blank page.

Note:  The Config.php file was blank before I placed in the code mentioned above.  I checked other EE files that I had downladed and they were blank as well so I am assuming that was how it should be before install.

    Thanks,

    Jen

    Hey Jen,

Um… no. There should be no blank files. I think I know what the problem is!

Can you re-download a fresh copy of ExpressionEngine, unzip, and upload those files back to your server?

Then go through the installation process outlined in the User Guide.

Definitely, no files in the download should be empty.

    Cheers,
