    Hi All,

I am currently developing a site which allows Facebook users to login to the EE site i’m developing.
I’ve noticed in the members section (via the control panel) that all of a sudden I have loads of new members without launching the site, nor have I got any pages or sections with a signup or register options.

This is very confusing, as I normally have the site offline (whilst developing), however as soon as it goes online (still with no way of signing in or registering), random spam members have signed up…

Is there any way to block, restrict, or reduce random member sign ups…especially where there is no page or option to register an account?

Thank you for your help and advice in advance guys

    Daniel

    Hello NowWhati,

Thank you for asking your question. This is a pretty common one.

The best way to avoid this is to rename the profile trigger word to something that the automated bots do not have in their dictionary file.

Also this article is a great resource. It should give you some more ideas.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane…

    Thanks for the update.
After I had posted this feed, I dug deeper and found out ways to overcome the membership spam and was able figure out the “trigger” word and other ways.

    So far no spam!! woohoo!!

    Thank you

    Rgds,
    Daniel
