When I type in http://www.mydomain.com/my_system to get to my control panel, it redirects and adds “:7080” to the URL as follows:

<a href="http://www.mydomain.com:7080/usys/index.php?S=0&D=cp&C=login">http://www.mydomain.com:7080/usys/index.php?S=0&D=cp&C=login</a>

Not sure why this is happening. Is there a way I can prevent this from happening?

Thank you for posting your question in the ExpressionEngine forums!

This could be several things, the first I would check is the config.php file. Is that port number hard coded for some reason?

Does the Control Panel work wit that port number in there?

Are you behind a proxy that is adding this port automatically?

Please check those few things and let me know!

The config.php file doesn’t have the port number hard coded. The CP works with the number there for the most part, except when I’m trying to upload images via Assets (Pixel and Tonic). I am not behind in proxy.

This is really an odd issue.

That port number is coming from somewhere in your environment.

What if you access the Control Panel from another computer or location? Same thing?

Can you talk with your SysAdmin and see if they have any port forwarding enabled on the server?

Same thing. In fact, I was made aware of the issues because a few of my clients complained about the 7080 being added because the addition of 7080 prevented them from being able to upload images via Assets. Seems like the 7080 started to come about after I moved the site to another server.

If you want, I can PM you the address to two control panel URLs so you can see for yourself. Strangely, it seems like the 7080 is added for some browsers but not for some other browsers.  Not sure if that helps.

I really think that it’s your environment that is adding this port number. Did you check with your SysAdmin to see if there is any firewall rules effecting traffic? I can not think of anything in ExpressionEngine that would cause this.

Can you check with your server admin and make sure that there is nothing configured on the server or a router that directs traffic through?

I also found that Google that port brings up hits for Plesk, Cisco, and a hack called hackdoor.

You might check into those as well.

Checked with my SysAdmin and there’s no firewall rules or rules set to redirect.  As I mentioned, I’m not the only one experiencing this.  It was a few of my clients who brought this to my attention.

Right, it would not be just you. The server is the one adding the port number, so anyone coming to the server would see that.

Are you running Plesk or using any Cisco devices that stand in front of port 80?

Is you SysAdmin concerned at all that a port is being added to traffic on your server?

This is happening for our site as well. Just moved it to a new server. Nothing in config or server settings regarding that port #.

What’s worse, the system keeps generating internal links (links within the content placed by wygwam) WITH :7080 appended to the domain name.

Found the problem on our end. We are on MediaTemple and it’s a known issue. A recent auto update was supposed to fix it but our update hung. Tech support there killed the update process, restarted, and we appear to be all good now.

Ok, another addendum. Completing the update didn’t completely take care of it. The System was still redirecting with 7080.

However, turning off ngnix reverse proxy did the trick. That appears to have been the root cause.
