I am working on implementing a new frontend design on an existing EE1.6.9 site.

My client would like to display his products according to type, e.g. terminals, and then allow the user to select how many terminals to display on the page at one time, and allow the user to sort them according to a custom field.

You can see a static mockup of the page here, which should make the concept clear:

Is there a way of doing this that does not involve using POST and GET and reloading the page?

I would be very grateful for any useful suggestions.

    Many thanks

    Chris

Dynamic parameters can be used for this - http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/channel/dynamic_parameters.html - you can extend the inputs by adding categories and filters for most custom fields.

Sorry that link was for the 2.x docs, here’s the legacy 1.x docs - http://expressionengine.com/legacy_docs/modules/weblog/dynamic_parameters.html - though the methods are still the same (apart from weblog/channel in your tag names.)

Thanks for the tip bluedreamer. I knew I had seen this somewhere but just couldn’t remember where… Looks like the best solution.

    cheers, chris
