I am not able to update my website as of a week ago. I can login to the site and click into the various sections. But when I try updating and click submit, it bounces me back to the CP homepage.

    Help please.

    Hey bearelite,

It sounds like your hosting service may have updated the server. Can you check with them?

Did you make any changes recently? Upgrade recently?

What does the Server Wizard say about your server?

    Thank you,

Hi.  Answering for my client, here.

    0) The server has not, as far as we know, changed recently. The tech people there (at Jusssolution) say it’s nothing they know of.

    1) The EE Wizard reports “yes” to every item. So that’s clear.

    2) The site is up and running currently, and works well for other site visitors, and for other site editors on other computers.

I will ask my client to report what browsers and versions he is using; he reports this happens with more than one browser.

Perhaps it’s an IP address issue? But in that case, wouldn’t it ask him to login again?

    More info on this problem:

    1. I cannot update the site from my home. I can log in- but not update. It is working fine from my office PC and others elsewhere have also tested and confirm they work fine from their locations.
    2. I also manage two other EE sites (earlier builds), one hosted at enginehosting and the other a local Singapore server. For both sites, they work fine when updating from my home.
    3. I have tried using Ipad from my home and it does not update too.

    Hello bearelite,

It sounds like all the issues resolve around your being at home, at least for this one site.

Is it possible that Jusssolution has you behind a proxy? If your IP rotates quickly, which would be odd for a home connection, then you may be timing out. But really I would expect you to be kicked out not just lose functionality.

Can you try clearing the ExpressionEngine cache and see if that helps?

    Thank you,

Yes, we’ve tried clearing the cache; it didn’t help.

I’ll report back on the IP address shortly.

Let’s have a look at this one to see what’s going on here. Travis, be on the lookout for an email from me.

    Kevin,

Just to move this forward, I was able to get Terry to find out this:

This is my IP at home before I go into EE: 115.66.37.25
After I log into EE and got booted back to CP, : 115.66.37.251

Is there any way to make this work with changing IP addresses? I’ve set the control panel to be Cookies Only for sessions—shouldn’t that allow the IP address to change, or is that a separate part of the login-checking mechanism?

Thanks for the info, Travis. I’ll be following up on this in the private ticket.
