    Hello

Does anyone have any experience of weblog entries (but not all entries) just disappearing?

Site functionality is still operational - templates, members, categories, fields, status… and some weblog entries remain - but other weblogs just deleted from the DB?

It’s happened twice in as many days now. I’m concerned it might be a weakness in one of the plugins, modules or extensions running…

Some general experience would be a good place to start before I start the long job of upgrade, uninstall and retesting the system.

Any advice would be HUGELY appreciated.

    Thanks, Liam

What version of EE?  How do you backup your db?

    Hey Liam,

    YIKES! That’s not good.

Can you see if they still exist in the DB? Or are they really gone?

A few things come to mind.

    1. Host did something to the server, maybe things did not go as planned and restored your site along with others and used an old backup. So posts were not removed, you were basically rolled back to a point in time where you had less. Are there just random posts missing or is it like you were rolled back to an older date?

    2. An Admin on your install did not know what they were doing.

    3. Please tell me you have a backup. 😊

    4. Figure out what happened before you do anything else.

Please keep us posted, I would love to help as much as I can.

    Thank you,

    Thanks for the replies.

The site was definitely hacked - but to find the entry point is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

    Using EE1.7.3 and a host of add-ons.

We’re updating all of those, moving the system directory above the root and taking some precautions on the server itself.
