Yesterday after restarting our Zend Server, I am unable to log in to the control panel. The login page just refreshes. I’m not sure what happened.  I’ve tried these two suggested fixes: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/219568/#1021549 and
http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/216012/#999673, but neither worked. I’ve also completely reset my browsers (Safari 6, FFX 14 and Chrome 21)

I’m running EE 2.5.2 on Apache 2.2 using Red Hat Enterprise Linux running Zend Server for PHP (PHP 5.3). The one kink—for security—is that I’ve split the authoring/control panel out to a different server from the front end/production server, but I’m using proxy_pass to fool the authoring server into thinking it’s using the production server.

    Thanks!!

I also just tried this: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/222891/#1024758 and that didn’t work either. :(

Any additional information you can provide will help others provide some suggestions. Have you checked the error logs on the servers? Are they showing anything? If you turn off the split for the separate control panel for authoring can you log in? Are there .htaccess rules that are in play that might be causing issues? Is the front end of the site showing any errors?

I can’t help but think that this is a result of the split you’ve done. Perhaps you can undo that? If you want to contact me offline I would like to talk about your reasons for doing the split (I know you can’t talk too much about this project publicly 😊 yet….).

Folks, we figured it out!!! It turns out it was related to using variables for username and password in the database.php file and some adjustments to how the split was configured. Everything is working.
