    Hi,

I’m new to EE (and really liking it) but I am running into an issue that is more annoying than problematic. When I’m writing code in a template, a style sheet for instance, and I click “update” the template scrolls all the way back up to the top. So when I want to go back and modify the same code again I’m forced to scroll back down through my entire style sheet looking for the code I need.

The problem (annoyance) is compounded by the fact that there are no line numbers in the code (there may be an option, but I can’t find it).

So, is there anyway to set it so that when I click to update the file remains scrolled to that place? And/or is there any way to add line numbers to the templates?

Thanks very much for the help.

    Michael

    Welcome to the forums!

There’s an addon that converts template editing fields to a code editor with line numbers - http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/editee

    Hi Michael,

Indeed, welcome to ExpressionEngine and the Forums!

As Rob points out, you can use an add-on to add styling and features in the Control Panel for code editing. But you can also opt to save templates-as-files!

With that, you can access your templates via FTP and edit them in your favorite code editor on the desktop!

    Cheers,

Thanks Rob and Dan for your responses. I appreciate it. I’ll definitely check out both options.
