Is this possible? What I am looking for is an email notification to be sent to an admin when a newer version of EE is released. Haven’t run into this before as I find out directly but this is for a site I’m handing off.

Thank you for posting your question here on the ExpressionEngine forums.
I am not aware of anything of that nature. We do allow a message to be shown in the Control Panel if a new version is available. You could subscribe to the blog, that is where we announce new versions.

Just wanted to add to what Shane said. We don’t have an email that goes out with every new release (though we do usually include the latest new release when we sent out our newsletter), but we do always post a release announcement in the Releases forum here. The forum has an RSS feed that you could follow if you wanted to.
