Still good practice to rename system folder in EE2?

    This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    I remember back in EE1, the documentation explicitly recommended that you change your system folder name.

    For a while, I noticed this isn’t stated explicitly in the EE2 docs. On the last few EE2 installs I actually haven’t bothered changing it — does it still pose a security risk to not rename your system folder in EE2?

    Not if you move it above web root as the docs now recommend.  If you don’t do that I’d certainly change it.

    Hi, Boom Shiddang -

    As Mike said, if you follow the best practice of moving your system folder above web-root, then renaming is not necessary.
