Just another problem trying to use a Windows server :/ I have contacted the host and had them update the permissions on folders. I’ve been trying to get Save Templates As Files to work and I keep getting the “Can’t Save Template as File” error. If the host did set permissions correctly, then it mut be a path issue. Since it’s a windows server, the server path that is detected is adding a “C:\” to the beginning of the path and the slashes are back instead of forward…

C:\inetpub\ghdweb\dev\expressionengine\templates\

I’ve tried changing the slashes to forward slashes and still no luck. I also tried getting the file upload to work, but I had the same problems and I think it’s path related.

C:\inetpub\ghdcpa\dev\ghdadmin\images\uploads\

Any thoughts? I also tried changing the slashes to forward and no luck. Should I remove the “C:\”? Thanks for any help!

Hmmmm ... I am not familiar with Windows. Linux guy, but I would think that an absolute system path like that is not needed. See the documentation here

The path should start at the web server’s home. So like on a shared host that’s usually going to be your user directory.

/home/usr/domain.com/public_html/system/expressionengine/templates/

But if this is a server you are not sharing with other folks then the path is going to be with out a user’s home directory. For example ...

/var/www/html/templates

Does that makes sense?

Shane, I ended up getting this to work with path help from this thread.

Oddly enough this path worked…C:\inetpub\ghdcpa\dev/ghdadmin/expressionengine/templates/

This information should be added to the Install docs in a “Windows Server” section or something. Thanks!
