I’ve always used a Linux server and removed the index.php successfully using a .htaccess file. We have a client with a Windows server though :/ I looked at http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Remove_index.php_From_URLs/#Notes_Disclaimers , but some of the links on there for IIS info don’t work anymore. Is there anyone out there who can let me know what must be done? If there’s something I can do, or if I need to talk to the server admins I need to know what to tell them. Thanks!

If you trawl through some of my old postings you’ll find my solution on Windows.

IIRC it required ISAPI Rewrite module.

Not done it myself but I have it on good authority that IIS 7.0 can do this using the new URL rewrite module 2.0.

More specifically you need to use the “User Friendly URL” feature to map requests to a particular script (in this case index.php).  A full walkthrough of the process can be found here: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/497/user-friendly-url—-rule-template/

    Steven,

I browsed your posts history and didn’t see anything, do you have a link?

Christopher, thanks for the link, I’ll have to talk to the hosting to see what they have installed and what they can do.

I sent the hosting the link that Christopher provided and told them what I wanted to happen. Not sure of the setup, but whatever they did it worked. Thanks for your help everyone!
