    A Database Error Occurred
    Error Number: 1146

    Table 'eh14932a.exp_developer_log' doesn't exist

    SELECT COUNT(*) AS `numrows` FROM (`exp_developer_log`) WHERE `viewed` = 'n'

    Filename: models/tools_model.php

    Line Number: 257

Is it as bad as it seems?

    Hi Peccavio,

I’m sorry for the error you have encountered. I do need a little more context however 😊

What were you doing when the error showed up? Browsing the Control Panel? Updating/installing, etc?

Were there any recent changes to your installation? And lastly, what version of ExpressionEngine are you using?

    Cheers,

    EE Version 2.3.1

System belongs to a client, Don’t know how he broke it.
The problem shows up when trying to login to CP.

    Thanks for any suggestion

    Hey Peccavio

    EE Version 2.3.1

    and

    Table 'eh14932a.exp_developer_log' doesn't exist

Are the problem, the developer log was not introduced until ExpressionEngine 2.4 - so what seems to be here is a mix-match of ExpressionEngine 2.3.1 database and ExpressionEngine 2.4 files - is that something that could have happened?

I look forward to your reply!

    Cheers,

Very possable, this site has not been maintained by me.
I remember awhile back, his complaint; upgrade difficult.
Now he says he broke it, wants to know if I can fix it.

Should I attempt to roll the files back, then upgrade?
—how to get a copy of EE 2.3.1?

    Thanks for your know how.

    Hey George,

    It’s my pleasure to help!

If I were you, I’d capture a complete backup, database and site files, and follow the User Guide to update to ExpressionEngine 2.5.2

What is very likely to happen is a series of errors until you can get through the updater. Essentially, we need to set /system/expressionengine/config/config.php

    $config['app_version'] = '231';

*but* if some of the database changes have already been made, the updater will complain. Then you’ll be chasing down lines of code in the ud_xxx.php files.

It’s not going to be easy, but best is often *not* easy.

When all is said and done, you will have your client up on EE 2.5.2 and we’ll know where we are going forward.

I’ll subscribe to this thread to be sure I get notified. If you get into a spot where you need advice, let me know and I’ll get you through this.

    Cheers,

I am having the same issue with a client’s site that I developed. The site is already up to EE 2.5.2. What happens for me is that a user can login and they are automatically redirected to Structure. So, it seems that everything is ok because you can navigate to anywhere in the CP except for the CP home, where we get the exact same error described above.
    Any thoughts?

    Hey dennisdrom,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

Did you recently upgrade or is this a clean install?

You mentioned being redirected to Structure? Can you clarify that for me? What is structure?

So you are getting this error, but only when navigating to the Control Panel home?

    A Database Error Occurred
    Error Number: 1146

    Table 'X.exp_developer_log' doesn't exist

    SELECT COUNT(*) AS `numrows` FROM (`exp_developer_log`) WHERE `viewed` = 'n'

    Filename: models/tools_model.php

    Line Number: 257

Can you show me what your error looks like?

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane,
    Thanks for your response.
    1) This is a recent upgrade. The moderator above mentioned a possible mix-match of different versions of database and files. I believe this could be a possibility for me. How could I check to see if this is the case?
    2) By Structure, I’m referring to the add-on called Structure (http://buildwithstructure.com/). There is an option to automatically redirect to Structure on login. I believe this is why I am able to login just fine while the OP above was not able to log in at all. If I did not have this option checked I would be in the same boat.
    3) I have attached a screenshot of my error message.
    Thanks again!

    Hi Dennis,

What version of ExpressionEngine did you update from? The Developer Log was introduced in EE 2.3

Were there any problems when updated? Did you receive any errors? Did you update your add-ons as part of the process?

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,
I believe I upgraded from a version older than 2.3, but I’m not positive. Also, I do remember there being some weirdness when I upgraded. The site blew up and I had to revert to a previous backup and do it again. I did upgrade modules, as well. I definitely feel like something is not quite right with the site, but I don’t know what to do. Is there a way that I can reinstall everything and start from scratch while keeping the existing database? I mean, my concern is that the corruption is in the database, so new files won’t help anything.
Sorry I don’t have better answers—it’s been a few months since I touched the site and just recently noticed this issue.
    Thanks,
    Dennis
