I have an editor member group (non super-admin) and in only one channel they are unable to change the status of entries from “closed” to “open.”  Open does not appear in the status list. This is the same if they look at and try and edit individual entires or if they are trying to edit multiple entries within the CP > Edit.

All of the entries that the member creates in this channel are also defaulted to closed, even though the channel entry default is “open” for newly created entries.

I’ve checked to make sure that within the member group settings the channel assignment is set to yes for “can post and edit entries in: desired channel.” I also checked to make sure there where not conflicting settings in the channel preferences.

I’m not sure if I’m missing a setting somewhere or if this is, in fact, some kind of bug.  I recently upgraded to v2.5.1 - Build Date: 20120529.  I’m not sure if this was happening before the upgrade, but it was after the upgrade that my client noticed this problem.

Hey Justin, another quick thing to check:

Admin > Channel Administration > Channels and click Edit Group Assignments for the channel in question. Is the Status Groups option set correctly?
