Weird CSS issue while logged into CP

I have a weird CSS issue happening. First, some background, I use the html5boilerplate reset, etc.

On this page, my bullet points for the sub-navigation are showing up even though I have list-style set to “none” in my css. The weird part is that if I am logged into the control panel, it renders just fine, without the bullets. When I am logged out of the CP, the bullets re-appear. Again, it only affects the submenu which is an UL with an id of sub_menu.

I’ve had this issue pop up in the past, but couldn’t pinpoint it to being logged into the CP or not.

    Help! Thanks! 😊

    Hi Jacob,

    That is certainly odd!

Are you keeping your CSS in ExpressionEngine templates?

Do you have any conditionals or restrictions on the template? Is the state affected by any logged in Control Panel user, site user, or only Super Admins?

What version of ExpressionEngine are you using?

I look forward to your reply!

    Cheers,

Yes, my CSS is stored as a template in EE. I am running EE 2.5.0. It doesn’t matter what user is logged in. Also, no conditionals in CSS and no conditionals related to CSS in main template.

Ok, so this still doesn’t explain why this changes when I am logged in or out, but I found out that I only have list-style: none applied to my #main_menu nav and not my #sub_menu nav.

The only difference I am seeing in CSS is the CSS for the CP declares all UL as list-style none. The CP CSS wouldn’t apply to my templates in any way when they are rendered, will they?

In the meantime, I have added list-style: none to the #sub_menu tag in CSS and everything works great, but again, what caused this to change while logged in/out. Something seems fishy still.

Indeed, Control Panel styles should have zero influence on the front side. Very bizarre.

The only thing that should have an effect would be template restrictions, perhaps.

Would you like us to go in for a look?

    Cheers,
