    Hi All,
I have an issue with an installation running EE 1.6.8 and Forum Module 2.1.2.

Anyone trying to post in the forum is getting the following :

    ‘’‘’‘’‘’‘’‘
You don’t have permission to access /index.php/S=bf71c9b333146487189588c930ebf2b2324ca8d1/forums/newtopic/20/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    ‘’‘’‘’‘’‘’‘’‘

Also attempting to login from the “Login Form - Mini Version” forum template is getting a similar message.

Any one got a clue what this is about?

Forum has been running fine for years without a problem??

    thanks
    cc

As an update to the above I made an 403 error page so I could tell what was going on as it was a missing 403 page that was throwing the 404.

    The 403 error gives this:

    Error Status Code:403
    Referring URL: <a href="http://www.&#91mysite&#93.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/325/">http://www.[mysite].com/index.php/forums/viewthread/325/</a>
    Requested URL: /index.php/forums/newreply/325/

Also I switched themes to the default forum theme and we are getting the same errors.

Attempting to login using the embedded “Login Form - Mini” in the forum ‘templates>Login form templates>Login Form -mini’ gives a 403 error:

    Error Status Code:403
    Referring URL: <a href="http://www.&#91mysite&#93.com/index.php/forums/">http://www.[mysite].com/index.php/forums/</a>
    Requested URL: /index.php

We really need some help with this as the forum key to the site.
    Thanks

    Update:
Apparently the host has done a little security hardening on the server…
Their security logs showed up an ‘issue’ where some of the Forum form posts- login, reply to post etc - where being flagged as an injection attempts as the form post contained the complete URL like http://www.[mysite.com]/index.php ...apparently..

Hats of to the tech support guy though as he resolved the problem in about 4 mins- much less time than the 4 days is taken me trawling through the code trying to find the issue myself .

Note to self- when it looks like a hosting, smells like a hosting issues and sounds like a hosting issue issue it is most likely a hosting issue (but not always) 😉

    Hi C,

Thanks for your question and persistence in the updates!

Note to self- when it looks like a hosting, smells like a hosting issues and sounds like a hosting issue issue it is most likely a hosting issue (but not always) 😉

    Sage advice, my friend 😉

It looks as though you are all set, but is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Cheers,
